FAQS

What is Wellness Coaching?

A Wellness Coach is a guide and mentor who partners with you and provides ongoing support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable changes that improve your health and happiness.

What are Botanicals?

Botanicals are plants or parts of plants that contain medicinal or therapeutic properties. Herbs, essential oils, and cannabis are all considered botanicals. Botanicals can be used in combination. For example, you can blend essential oils together for custom effects, and you can use cannabis with herbal medicine for amplified results. Botanical products may be used to maintain and improve health.

What is Cannabis?

Cannabis is a plant species that contains compounds called cannabinoids, phytonutrients, and terpenes. The key (cannabinoid) compounds of interest to many people are CBD and THC, although numerous other beneficial properties have been identified in the plant. Cannabis refers to hemp AND marijuana. Full spectrum cannabis implies that no parts of the plant have intentionally been removed during the extraction process.

What is Hemp?

Hemp is cannabis which is federally regulated and may not contain more than 0.3% THC at dry harvest weight. Hemp has been grown for millennia and its byproducts have over 1,000 uses including textiles, body care, food, fuel, and industrial building materials. Hemp can be used to make consumable and non consumable products regardless of CBD or THC levels. However, at this time, the government requires the destruction of all hemp crops that exceed the limits of 0.3% THC.

What is CBD?

Cannabinol (CBD) is a compound that can be expressed in cannabis. It is possible to cultivate CBD in both hemp and marijuana plants. In 2003, the US Government was granted a patent on "cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants." CBD may be helpful for relaxation, encouraging sleep, muscle and joint relief, mood balancing, and overall wellbeing.

What is Hempseed Oil?

Hempseed oil is pressed from the seeds of the hemp plant. It is replete with nutritional fats, omegas, vitamins, and minerals. Hempseed oil is typically found in food and beauty products. Hempseed oil DOES NOT contain CBD. However, hempseed oil is commonly used as a carrier oil in products that contain CBD.

Is Cannabis Safe for Children?

Cannabis is potentially safe for infants, children, and young people of all ages, as long as the dosage is administered appropriately based on the child’s medical condition or social-emotional need. Please consult your family physician.

Is Cannabis Safe for Pets?

According to a 2017 World Health Organization report, CBD appears to be safe and well-tolerated by animals. A commonly suggested CBD serving for pets is 1 to 1.5 milligrams per every 10 pounds the animal weighs. CBD may be administered to animals topically via oils and balms or orally via oils and ingestible treats. CBD is often given to pets to increase calm, support joint mobility, reduce aggression, and alleviate separation distress.

Does Cannabis have Contraindications?

Make sure that you are informed, intentional, and mindful prior to incorporating cannabis into your existing medication routine. CBD can potentially inhibit the enzyme cytochrome P450, which is required to metabolize most pharmaceutical drugs in the liver. Taking CBD alongside prescription medication(s) can complicate the effects of these medications. As a general contraindication warning, be cautious when using CBD if you have been advised to avoid grapefruit or grapefruit seed extract. Grapefruit interacts with the body similarly to CBD. Please consult your physician and/or health practitioner(s) in order to onboard and leverage your existing medical team with your new cannabis care plan.

Will I Fail a Drug Test from taking CBD?

It is possible that hemp-derived CBD can trigger a positive drug test due to the trace amounts of THC contained in full spectrum CBD products. If you are subject to drug testing it may be best to avoid using full spectrum CBD at this time. Everyone metabolizes cannabis differently and THC can have a cumulative effect in the body. Please make an educated decision when incorporating CBD into your health routine. In the event that you fail a drug test you can request a “confirmatory test” which will measure lower concentrations of cannabis metabolites. It can be helpful to bring in your hemp-derived CBD product and proof of purchase at the time of testing to evidence that you are in fact taking a legal and federally compliant CBD product. Please talk to your employer before you start taking CBD so that you can maintain transparency and make informed choices regarding your CBD care.
